He was a football role player back then but had to quit it considering of the injury. He joined acting afterward. It was probably for the best.

Mickey Rourke does not really have a very attractive confront which is really only full of scars. The actor was a boxer earlier and and then injuries were always a part of his career. Due to these injuries, he had to get a lot of surgeries during the 90s but apparently, none of them worked very well and he did not have a clear face. The thespian later claimed that probably his option was not actually right and he should have been more careful.
